Short answer
Apply now under PSG or EDG. EDGE has no confirmed launch date — 'second half of 2026' means any time between July and December. Waiting delays real productivity gains on an undefined timeline. PSG, EDG and MRA are fully open, stable, and well-understood. A project funded and delivered under the current grants is not invalidated when EDGE launches. The only reason to wait: your project specifically needs EDGE's non-SME eligibility.
Key facts
- PSG, EDG and MRA are fully claimable now — no reason to delay
- EDGE has no confirmed date: 'second half of 2026' = July–December
- Current grant approvals are not invalidated by EDGE's launch
- Exception: non-SMEs specifically waiting for EDGE's broader eligibility
The practical arithmetic: an EDG or PSG project approved today takes 8–12 weeks for approval + 12 months to deliver. By the time EDGE launches, a project started now could already be delivering results. Waiting means giving up that lead time for no reason.
The exception is a non-SME that currently cannot access PSG or MRA. For those businesses, EDGE's removal of the size restriction is the first time a digitalisation or overseas expansion grant is available to them — and the right move is to scope the project now, define the vendors and activities, and submit on EDGE Day 1.
For SMEs already eligible, there is no advantage to waiting. The enterprise efficiency cluster (the EDG successor) is where most of the AI transformation work sits, and the earlier you scope, the earlier you can draw down.
